Hi everyone....I recently bought a 2010 SHO, and I just had the windshield replaced.

After the replacement, I was surprised to see a fairly wide gap at the top of the windshield that, if it was there before the new glass was installed, I had not noticed. It's about a half inch wide.

It looks to me like a piece of moulding is missing, but the glass installer (nationwide chain) said this was how it was from original.

Could someone please take a look at his/her car and tell me if this is correct?

Thank you.

John

Here you go. It might not be clear from the photo, but the line along the top of the windshield is a half-inch gap.20170214 092524

Yes, a gap is normal, the size may vary slightly maybe a 16th of an inch depending on how the windshield was installed..

Hard to tell if your gap is normal with all that snow in the way...

Secondly, what is that line of black crap on the roof of your car above the windshield?! I hope that it's not the primer they use to install windshields...

Thank you. That's what I needed to know. Any gap seems strange to me, and I would think it would have an effect on aerodynamics. Seems like a smooth moulding is called for, but I suppose Ford knows best. Also, I think it's a trick of the photo...there isn't any black crap on the roof.

Looking again at the photos, I see what you mean. Yes, that is the sealer that the installers used. Your installation is much cleaner. I'll look into this.

Yea I would be ******.... looks like the primer they use to treat the surface around where the windshield will be attached... then they use the windshield glue after that...

Based on them putting the primer on the roof I would be highly suspect of the entire installation...

Would it be possible for you to shoot a side view of your installation (that is, standing near the driver's door) for me to show them what it should look like?

If you like you can email it to me on [email protected] or post it here. It would help a lot. Thank you.
