What kind of hookup? I could really use one that cheap because I'm tired of watching my hood slowly rise and fall every time I let out the clutch.

And yes, it will run better, because the motor's torque is transmitted where it should be, instead of lifting the front of the motor up and wasting it. Smoother...definitely.

I had the front of the motor chained to the subframe for a day(for testing some ideas i`ll put into it in the spring)and it took off like you would not believe! When you hit the gas,it moved as quickly as you pushed the pedal.

So does that mean that it would be faster to have abroken one, or a solid good one? I am a lil slow.

Solid. When you nail the gas,the motor will twist until the rubber on the motormounts compresses as far as it will go.It softens the blow on the drivetrain to have that cushion.Of course i`m still going to chain it down
smile.gif
.I have a whole system designed for it though,so it can be tightened and loosened easily and quickly if i need to.

Yeah whats up with that? I thought aftermarket mounts were supposed to have that chained down effect already. I got mine fixed but they feel sloppy compared to the stock mounts. I don't know if they're designed that way or I'm having other problems. But it should go faster with good mounts. I got mine fixed (mostly) and it was night and day. The energy tends to stay focused and off you go..

They aren`t solid, but reinforced. When a stock mount goes bad,it tears the rubber in the mount. The SS and Shonut ones have a bar welded in above the rubber so it won`t flex the rubber as much.

Back in Michigan ... again.
Well, here's my take on this subject. The QUICKEST run I ever made with my 95 MTX (15.20 @ 93 mph) was done with a VERY bad front motor mount. In fact, the mount was a stock replacement, and was less than 24 hours old. It broke on this very run, and I just happen to have a picture of it

Here's the URL:

I'm the SHO on the left...notice the hood flexing upwards

If that link doesn't work (I don't know how tripod.com is handling images these days) just go to the SVT/SHO Society website, visit the picture galleries and go to the Society Motorsports Weekend gallery. I was racing a club member in a silver 92 SHO at the time.

Though this was technically my quickest run, it had nothing to do with the motor mount. I later ran 15.23 with a reinforced mount...I would highly recommend replacing motor mounts when they go bad. Otherwise you'll be putting more stress on your drive line, exhaust etc. because there are many many things under hood that AREN'T supposed to be moving that much...eventually something will let go!

Yeah...I keep forgettin. Tell ya what, I'll bring it to the Christmas dinner

My motor mount failure was unique in that the mount was apparently defective from the start. It was a used mount (30,*** miles) but looked like new, so perhaps it had been repaired. Anyway, the bracket itself failed on my SHO...the rubber was fine but the mount literally pulled away from the engine. When I got in there the lower bolt was still right where it should have been, but the two sides of the mount literally ripped away from the engine. Hehehe that's power

Yeah I get a clicking noise when I engage/disengage the clutch while driving lately. Is that a possible clutch problem? Or engine mount. It also happens if I just punch it while already in gear. What comes along with it is a sort of buzzing sound when giving it gas that seems to go away when I let off the gas. I hope this new clutch was installed properly, because its brand new. It's really aggravating sometimes and makes my car sound like a clunker.
