Widest Wheels

I'm talking to some buddies about doing wheels on my SHO and have had a **** of a time with trying to figure out what to go with.

Just curious, what is the widest tire size run with/without rolled fenders, and the widest rim run so far?

What size wheel? 17", 18...? As far as the possibilities if you roll the fenders, the are a lot of sizes that fit, all depends on the offset. I believe Sam is running some 17x9s with, I wanna say 23mm offset on the front for his auto x setup.

These are 17x7.5, 42mm offset with 225/50/17.
Close but no interference.

I've run 17x8, and 18x8 on all Gen's so far. Mille Miglia are usually 40 offset, and the 18x8's are TD PR1.2, I dunno what the offset is.

Whatever x 8 is the widest you can probably go. Sam was 17x9 but they stick way out of the fender.

My 17x7.5 are quite close to the strut (Has 235/45/17 on them, cannot go wider), but I don't know the offset.

I am gonna be doing a lug conversion adapter plate which is about 25mm wide. Then i am gonna roll my fenders. I wanna try and run a 17x9 all the way around if its possible...

Hope you don't care about your paint on the side...These tires are going to stick out a lot!

Uhh. Good luck. Hopefully there are recesses in the back of the wheel to fit over the factory studs too. I dunno about 17x9s...also they'll be useless in the rear.

18X8 and you cant put a finger between the shocks (rear) , plus if you are lowered a bit , you will need to roll your rear fenders (with +38 or 40 offset)

Remember the offset is as important , to check if it fits.

What I am thinking about doing is ordering the rims and the adapter plates, and then Test fit them. Then I will find out what has to be done...

I plan on having rolled fenders...

I personally just think if its not a track car you should just shy away from the 9" wide wheel and stick to 8" wide at the most.

My wheels are 17x7.5, with a 38mm offset, and running a 225/50 tire. I've done some trimming and grinding on the inside rear wheel lip, but still getting some rubbing when they bottom out. Probably do some rolling when I get a chance.

running a 225/45 or 225/40 should fix that.

I run 245/40/17's on my car. Altho, a 245 tire is going to be taller regardless then a 225. A 45 series tires with the right ride height looks good.

That's good to know. Loooking at getting a set of slicers widened to either 7.5" for a 215 tire, or out to 8" for a 225 tire. Might just go with the 8", which could work with the usual fener lip trimming on an '89.
