Rules for autocross mods in SCCA are like your girlfriend. If she doesn't explicitly say you can do it, then unfortunately you can't.
Yes, there is hope for the SHO in STX.
PaulTAutoX races his '92 SHO in STX. He has been doing it for years, and has trophied in a number of local clubs (Bay Area), and he has even trophied at the National level in STX.
He runs coilovers, Koni's, '96 brakes, Quaife, Y-pipe, Yokohama's . . . everything that is STX-legal.
Here is his web page that goes into the details about his SHO - http://www.calweb.com/~pault/BaySHO/PTSHO.htm

stx is cool, but CP is were it's at for SHOs in my opinion.
So what the said you could put miss piggy on a hollywood diet. 2550 or some where around that with driver?
Yeah I thought that was with the driver. Thanks will put a good search one as I'm looking for a 89-91 sho non-plus sho.
Those weights are without the driver. My C Prepared '91 SHO is around 2750 right now (no driver). Once I replace the glass with lexan and totally gut the bumpers and remove all the unnecessary electrical, I'm pretty sure it will be close to the 2500 lb. range. I finally bought a diesel truck so I'll be trailering it to events from now on.
If you are going to build a C Prepared SHO, make sure you get a 1st Gen WITHOUT a sunroof. If I could do it all over again, I probably would have done it with an '89 (no ABS, no air bag, no cr@p).
I will lean on you guys as I try to find and build. But people want me to roadrace.

One more thing where would you find a Qauilf?
