Hello all,

As this car is new to me, I’m slowly testing limits when safe. Took a off ramp at decent speed and was surprised tires breaking loose earlier than expected. Being all wheel drive, I’m assuming this can be a controlled drift. H&R springs are definitely going on before tune to get vehicle more planted. Couple questions:
  • Will 255 45 20’s work after lowering
  • Anyone know of track in Northeast where I can become familiar with vehicles cornering
Thank you,
Mike

What tires are on it?

I find that I can generate some moderate oversteer in a turn by laying into the go-pedal, but I have to do a "full off" on the traction/AdvanceTrac. Otherwise, the stability stuff tends to get in the way. Usually by refusing to obey my foot ;)

The platform definitely likes to slightly understeer when I'm moving the wheel around a lot, but in a turn, I find it generally just begins to slide equally front and back.

But then, I have the Performance Package. Different springs, and a thinner front sway bar so the front tends to want to do what I say.

There are 245 mxv4’s on now. What about pilots in 255? Would these fit when lowered?

255 will fit easy - only 10mm wider than your 245. There's a member on here (Jason) who runs 275 on a 9.5 wheel/rim just fine. I'm about to do the same.

If you're surprised at the speed when things broke lose I would suggest better tires over springs. You will see the biggest traction improvement with quality tires over springs.

Indeed. I plan to put 255’s on this summer and use mxv4’s in winter. What brand/model are you running? I’ve always had good luck with Michelin’s and was planning on super sports

I had MXV4’s when I first got mine (2012 PP). Didn’t care for them at all. I tend to ‘enjoy’ corners and those tires were chewed up in under 20k mikes. Replaced them with Firestone Firehawk Indy 500’s which completely transformed the handling. So I echo the above suggestion - tires first then springs.
