Which tuner has the best transmission tuning?

So I've been out of the SHO world for a few years, been in a Q60 for a while, but I'm looking at going back to the SHO with a later model if I can find one. My last one was a '13, and I'm not sure if there's much improved since then but I'll see what I can find. When it does happen I know all the tuners get similar power numbers and it's not going to be a race car, so the transmission tuning is what seems the most important imo. Last I heard we had LMS (joined here 7 years ago for help with their shit tune) AJP (never tried) Unleashed (also never tried) Gearhead (SHO #1 lost an engine to this tune) and Ortiz (mine was great but I've heard shady shit since) but there could be more nowadays that I haven't heard of. I've searched and read some threads but transmission behavior is only ever lightly touched on, and I can't say exactly what I want out of it, so if anyone can say how theirs is and if they like it that's be appreciated.

Gh gives you more of a sport shift and longer in the rpm band before shift. LMS is a rebuild for sure as their shifts are violent as $h!t. AJP the car acts just like normal until you get into the throttle a bit more. Then it shifts fast and tight, no hard slam or sh!fts until it's back on boost. Ortiz I have not done this tune as I am very happy with the current set up I have.

With LMS mine wouldn't even shift sometimes. It would bounce off the rev limiter on the 1-2 shift.

We got snowed hard with that lmao. Back when I bought it the only options were them and unleashed, I can't see how they do it now when you're choosing between a device for one company vs one for 4+

I went with HP Tuner - and paid someone I connected in their forums. My tune is great and my history of my first tune is documented here back under Diablo Sport when it was not owned by Holley. Their "Dyno" tuned had really "aggressive" hard shifts - long story short after running their tune, sent in logs twice - blew my transmission. This was in 2014ish.

HP is a good tuner with transmission controls - PM me for my guy - he has years of experience - then bought a Stang EB - been tunning EB engines. Including all fords - F150s etc.

It's like thoroughly dried dogshit tho, while the ones below it are still fresh and get all up in the treads of your shoes when you step in it. Then months after the fact you catch a whiff of it and can't quite figure out where it's coming from.

I will chime in with AJP. The trans tune is great. My E30 tune makes 414 hp and 546 tq and my SHO drives stock with in drive. In sport mode the car is quite different. Faster, firmer, and snappier shifts makes my SHO almost a different car.

I will chime in with AJP. The trans tune is great. My E30 tune makes 414 hp and 546 tq and my SHO drives stock with in drive. In sport mode the car is quite different. Faster, firmer, and snappier shifts makes my SHO almost a different car.

How can I get that tune man? Damn!

Brad is the best imo. Down side he is a one man band. He only takes on what he can process and has a full-timejob. You will get a very custom tune but you have to do your part. Send him logs in a timely manner and you will get an amazing tune.

You would need an SCT tuner. I have not heard of anyone using DiabloSport for this platform. Usually it is SCT or HP Tuners with SCT being the most common. Looking at DiabloSport they advertise an 87 and 91 octane box tune that gives you 60 hp/65 ft-lb. That seems very shady. I think most people running 93 are getting 40-50 hp with a custom tune. Going with the lowest octane does not allow for timing advance, increased compression, etc. that is needed to make more power.

Here Here - wholehearted agree, get an AJP tune, visit the link I shared that guy sells the SCT and tunes all one stop shopping.
