Ok here's the deal. I put out an ad here on campus saying I wanted a sub/amp setup. I got several replies but don't know which to pick. Can someone here with some audio knowledge help me out? Here's my choices:
1) 10" polk audio sub in a mtx thunderbox(sealed) and a mtx amp. $100 negotiable. (not sure how many watts - i'm waiting for a response from the guy.)
2) 2 6-1/2 subs in a bandpass box with an amp. It is all Jensen. probably 60 bucks for it all would do. subs can handle between 25 and 100 watts each I beleive and the amp is I think 44 x 2. I got all the stuff last year at Christmas and the Subs have a best buy warranty for 3 more years if you blow them up or anything.
3) 2 15" pioneer subs and a pioneer PRS-x320 amp. It's not in a bandpass box, just a sealed box. The box it made of 1" high
density particle board and it has black carpet. The subs were $165 each new and the amp was $380 new. I am getting rid of them because I am upgrading to 2-MTX thunder 8000's and I need to get rid of these to pay for a new amp. (He doesn't have a set price. He's looking to get at least $300 but told me to make him an offer.)
4) 2 - 10" JL w-0 series subs. when they were brand new they were $100 each i think.....i'd take like $65 for the pair.
i also have a brand new amp.....valued at $250. it's a 600 watt Planet Audio, and it has a 5 year warranty...the deal w/ the warranty is that if it breaks....you take it to the store w/ the receipt and they give you a brand new one....no questions asked...that's the great thing about planet audio....i think i'd want $200 for that, and i'd throw in all the wires and everything w/ that....the price of a GOOD wiring kit is at least $50.......
the only other issue is......would you want my box or not.....here's the thing...the box is great...it's still airtight, and has brand new blue carpet...but it's a truck box, so it's long and prolly wouldn't fit in your trunk....however...the speakers can be taken out...
if you want the box speakers and amp, i'd give it all to you for $275...minus the box.....the best part of this deal is really the amp....it's a GREAT amp and the warranty makes it sweeter
Okay, sorry for such a long post but I just don't know all that much about this kind of stuff. RickieFrat, Edien, SHOFF, all you other audio-freak guys (
) out there...please help me out here. I'd appreciate any and all thoughts/opinions. Thanks guys!
Edit - Forgot to mention that yes, I am on kind of a tight budget (college student!) and yes, I still need trunk space (college student!
) for all my stuff. So I guess that might figure into the equation there somewhere.
