Ok guys... I need to find an alternator for my '93 ATX... I thought I had found one at Cincy SHO but what they call a 3 day order has turned into a 10 day "availability check"... I need my car! If anyone knows where to get a good rebuilt or new alternator please let me know! I've heard that the autozone/napa alts don't last so I'm kind of hoping for a stock or quality alt.. its my 3rd and I'm tired of getting stranded..thanks!

See if you can find a local rebuilder. Mine has a one day turn around time.

Reasonably priced, very well made.
He is also working on adapting the 94 style alternator to the earlier ones; the electrical connector needs to be changed and 94 bracket needs to be bought, but the alternator is better, more capacity, availability is better, cost is less.

Here is another to add to the list. If you want one of the best made and powerful alternators call this guy:

Dave's DC Electric (David Baird)
9347 Narnia Dr.
Riverside, CA 92503
(909) 509-5617

I had him build a 225 amp alt for my 93 ATX.

Why not try your local auto parts stores? O'Reilly has a remanufactured Ultima 13447 for $179.99 and AutoZone has a DuraLast 13212 for $179.99.

Yeah, Dave's and Scooter's suggestion most likely would be better for you unless you need a truly bada$$ alt. I have an enormous stereo system and needed the current, hence the 225 amp unit. He builds quality units, however the cost might be prohibitive unless you actually need the added power.
