After installing my Tokico/Eibachs 3 weeks ago I found that the suspension was much improved. However, I also felt that somthing was not quite right.
The car would handle well but during low speed turning it would make a clunking/metalic sound. At speed it was a bit unpredictable and loose.
At 1st I thought I forgot to tighten one of the suspension parts. After a good once over I found that all parts were torqued to spec and nothing was loose. With the car up I checked both wheels for play. I found that the drivers side wheel had play both up and down and side to side. Since my tie rod and ball joint were new I assumed it had to be my wheel bearings. The below pic shows this to be the case.
Just a note here: I feel that the bearing was bad before I modded the suspension but I was not able to feel it due to many worn parts. With the Tokico/Eibachs and full poly bushings the suspension components are amplified X times.
Thought this might help some of you who are having suspension woe's.
The hub/bearing kit was $65 bucks at Autozone. One more note: It seems mid year 91' that the bearings or hub were changed by Ford as there were two different kits available for the 91' Pre 2/01 and post 2/91. Make sure you get the correct kit for your year.
