This is for my freinds car.If you are at a dead stop and floor it,it dont go to fast.It seems like the rpm's go up pretty high just not the speed. If he floors it under 30 then has alot of power from there on up.Usually if he is above 30 the car will go fast!

Well if it is an ATX it could be starting out in the wrong gear and then getting power when you give it gas because it is kicking down into a lower gear. It sounds kind of far fetched to me.

Try this. Run your codes. (If you don't know how, click here)

Run the Key on Engine Off tests and when all the codes are finished press the throttle down about 2/3 the way. Now go out to the engine bay and open the throttle body. Each time the TPS senses that the throttle has been closed it will open or close every solenoid/ circuit on the car. It should also cycle the secondary runner butterflys. Check to see if those are opening and closing. I suspect that they may be staying open all the time.

The secondaries are opening when it hits 4000 rpm's!Do you think the Maf could have anything to do with it.He has had the car for 6-7 months or so and has done it since he got the car.I was thinking if it was the tranny it would be gone by now..

It was the MAF on the SHO I was going to buy. We had similar problems, except the car was soooooo sluggish. Try unplugging the MAF and driving around. If it's the MAF you'll know right away. It will be like driving a new car. We did 15.4 at the track with the MAF unplugged. eek!

Awesome! Glad I could help.

dkautumna: The MAF is the silver Circle connected to your air box. It has a plug connected to it. You don't want to unplug it unless you think that you are having problems. If the MAF is not the problem you will need to reset the computer and set the idle per Scott's directions.
