what is this? some kind of vacuum line? whats it do? whats it doing not hooked up (hurting anything i mean)?

recently had my motor swapped for another (by 93superSHO), mine was kaboom'd. I understand that when your swapping motors at home, and for free, its kind of hard not to miss some things! :hail:. so just curious as to what it does, could be nothing for all i know!

Once again thanks to shawn for all the hard work . Thanks to any replies and sorry if photobucket shouldnt be used here, couldnt figure out how to resize the image to just put it up on the post.

That's your throttle body warm up tube. There's probably one on the back side of the throttle body that doesn't have a hose on it also. The two hoses that used to go on those fittings are now connected to each other inorder to let the hot coolant "bypass" the throttle body. You're good to go.

Larry the cable guy voice: You done got that throttle bypass mod! Yer good fer an extry thir-fitty horsepower at least!

As Tom said, it's just a coolant bypass. For cold-weather climates the coolant is routed through the throttle body to prevent icing. Bypassing it doesn't hurt anything and helps keep the TB cooler and, therefore, theoretically, the air charge a little cooler as well.

I don't know that anyone has verified on a dyno that this makes any real difference, but it generally doesn't hurt, either.

Edit: Oh, crap, just noticed that you're in Duluth! Well, if the throttle ever sticks right after startup you might want to reconnect this, but it's generally only a problem at startup in cold weather until the engine gets up to temp. Your call.

good to know :), i dont think the TB sticking should be a problem, its real warm out here (record hight temps this summer, got to 110! in northern minnesota). This winter i plan on just buying a beater and parking the MTX in the garage. The city i live on is built entirely on a hill, one big ass hill, so they salt the roads like you wouldn't believe, i just couldnt put her through that . Thanks guys!

Sorry Brett I forgot to tell you I did the TB coolant bypass for ya as I don't really think it was a problem to do it. It make taking the intake off way easier.

ALSO- Did I miss something?
