M12 x 1.50 x 145mm

That seems to be the size of the bolt used to hold the shifter equalizer bar to the transmission.

The problem is, no one seems to make one that long.

What have some of you done/seen that is a good workaround?

I am thinking of designing an adapter because I do not want to retap the tranny.

I have read on here that you can get a longer bolt of the same size, and tap the tranny case a little deeper to enguage some new threads. Luckily for me, I haven't had to do this (yet). Another option would be a threaded rod that you could bottom out in the tranny, and use double nuts to secure the shift rod.

The problem is that no one makes a m12 x 1.50 bolt or rod long enough.

My threads are perfect. And I don't want to mess them up trying to tap a sloppier thread pitch.

The original bolt is broken.

There is lots of 1 meter lengths of m12 avail out there. Just get a length of it. And do what Brian had said.

Whip out your yellow pages and find your nearest fastener supplier. If you can't find one go to your local mom & pop hardware store and ask them where the nearest Fastenal type store is.

I went the threaded rod route, cut to length and double nutted. I cut the rod londer then the original bolt because the threads were stripped. Its been fine for a few years like this.

Well my threads arent stripped and I'd like to keep them that way. I have contacted several Fastener Supply companies and it seems like the m12-1.50 thread is kind of a bastard (at least in the 140MM range). This may be why so many people have stripped threads - someone tried using a m12-1.75.

Fine thread is 1.25 and coarse is 1.75.

I am currently awaiting a quote from a machine shop for a 150mm stainless steel dowel threaded m12-1.50 on both ends.

can someone check how long the OEM bolt is? I have looked at a few pics and it seems like the OEM bolt is shorter than desired also (if not, I can probably get one from a junk yard). The hole is well over an inch deep but it looks like the bolt only penetrates about 3/4" into the tranny case.

Gotta run for now, will update soon. Please measure that dern bolt!
