Lately, for the last few weeks, I've noticed this rubbing sensation, almost feeling like it's coming through the accel. pedal. It almost sounds like when the secondaries come open, but not nearly as loud.....but it is that though. And I only have experienced this rubbing pulsation at high speeds, say driving around 90mph plus. And it will come and go very briefly for like a few seconds. And I don't always notice this everytime I get up to high speeds. I recently had a motor mount replaced, and shortly after that I had a tranny rebuild. I had to have the guy that did the tranny rebuild retighten the nuts on the mounts as I felt the thumping sound of the engine/tranny compartment.

Hope this is somewhat clear. However, if anyone have any suggestions as to what the culprit is, let me know!

is the engine speed changing? it could be a slipping OD band....my ATX did the same thing prior to its rebuild. I got a picture of the OD drum and band....it was very badly scoured and burnt...

Can you give a little more description? When does it happen, accel, decel, all the time? Does it only happen with the A/C on? etc etc...

Proper section, now!!!

The rubbing sound that I can also hear only happens at high speeds, usually when I'm accelerating up to like 90mph plus. A/C doesn't work, for over two years now. I have been experiencing some odd changes in speed, like sudden slight changes (drop) in speed, but not necessarily slipping...weird! But I sort of chopped that up to needing a tune up. And I checked my plug wells, and all were filled with oil. Until I can do the vcg, I just had my lil' brother suck all the oil out. Naw, just kidding, but I did suck most of the oil out. But this pulsation and noise seems more mechanical than electrical.

I'm really wondering if this is motor mount related. And actually, not only do I feel and hear this at high speeds, I've also been noticing it sometimes when I take off from a stop, applying like 80% throttle, this rubbing/scrubbing sound, that I can also feel through the gas pedal.

Another way of describing it is when you a mechanic did a quick check of my motor mounts one time, and what he did was while the car was in drive, he'd apply the brake, while giving the car some gas at the same time. You hear this crudded noise like rubbing brake pads on concrete. If this makes since to anyone, please let me know what you think. I just may have the guy that did my tranny rebuild look at my mounts once again before the warranty is up. This problem doesn't seem to have much effect on driveability though.

check your tires...my camber was pretty bad for a while, which in turn caused them to ripple on the inside. when going like 60-80 it would make a sound like it was rubbing...and it would come in and out of the shudder about every 3 seconds...I took each tire off and rolled it on a flat surface to see how bad they were...
