What to paint my S H O body lettering

Doing a search I see lots of you say paint the letters instead of using a decal.

What type of paint do you use. Do you get some of that ford touch up paint and do it by hand, or do you mask it off and spray it? Or is there another option I havent thought of?


Secondly, will that touch up paint stuff work to paint the letters on the intake? I know it dont get that so just asking.

Use that Duplicolour touchup paint with the pen adaptor.

And I painted my intake letters with touchup paint as well.

The pen applicator is diffrent then the fine brush type?

i think theyre the same thing, if you unscrew the cap you get the brush, and if you just pull the cap off you get the pen.

i found better results with masking off and spraying.

I used some decals that I got off ebay..........they suck! I want to paint mine soon, it would be much easier. The decals are hard to apply because the strips are so small.

I used copper. Goes with the understated look of my car I think. It changes colour a lot, from a dull primer like orange to a shiny bronze with direct sunlight.

Don't use this colour

i used an estes model paint pen

I used spray paint, masking tape, paint thinner, and Q-tips

I tried using the dupli-color paint pen/brush and it looked like crap. You can easily see the brush strokes and it is difficult not to paint outside of the SHO lettering. So I started over and just masked everything off then started spraying. Looks much better using spray paint because it makes the paint look smooth and even

So just get the pen and start filling in? What happens if you over apply and it starts to run off?...will paint thinner just take off the parts thtat were not done right?

Yeah, but you have to make sure to take it off the body before it dries..

i have silver letters on red on my ws6 and looks bad ***
i wana do the opposite thing i think it would be cool

Use black for silver.

I think those are rather nice quality, although Ive never used them.

edit: your probably better off taping off and spraying..

-YES !. i'm a fan of filled in letters. i filled in the doors and the rear cover, removed the fender emblems, added a taurus hood, and put on gen IV 5 spoke wheels on my silver '93 atx. you think it's bad when people look at you when you just blowed them off in a sho, you should see them when you blow them off in sho that looks like your grandpa's car !!!! :laugh_ti:
