Make sure the vacuum lines are in good condition(the ones for the EGR system), and clean out the nostrils in the intake manifold that the EGR system uses to dump the gasses back into it. They get gummed up over time and block the flow.

I'm sure you can find some pics, try a search for "EGR cleaning" or the like.

The EGR nostrils in the intake are a common problem, you can clean them out with a coathanger bent to resemble the number "7" along with some carb cleaner spray. You can do it with the throttle body on the car and the plate held open, but it's a whole lot easier if you remove the throttle body.

Here's a picture of the nostrils:

If that doesn't solve the problem, the next likely culprit would be the DPFE sensor.

I have updates..lol i started checkingout the EGR system, and long story short ended up replacing the EGR pressure sensor... the holes on the fittings were completly blocked.. so i just bought a new one and replaced it, along with new rubber hoses... hook the battery back up take her out and get another CEL.. bring it back home pull the codes and this is what i have now.. 111 172 and 176.. basically i now need two new O2 sensors.. good lord..

I had the code that was 335 DPFE Volts below MIN. I replaced the DPFE sensor now I have a code 327 EGR valve pos. (EVP) sensor, pressure feed back egr (PFE) sensor or EGR pressure transducer. (EPT) - signal volts too low. I took the throttle body off and cleaned the nostrils and this did not work. I am thinking about R&R the EGR valve will this fix the problem? Any advise would be greatly appreciated. TY Tom...
