Ok I read my error codes again, and when i ran the KOER test... i got error code

538 (R) System did not receive "goose" test

what that means... i dont know. can anyone tell me??

i also got another error code during the KOER test

167 (R) No Throttle Position sensor change in "goose" test (must get at least 25% rotation) - TPS

I dont know what that means either.... so im a little confused at this point.
IS my TPS going bad too? i know that my CPS is bad... and needs replacing...

oh and i got the good ole' 214 code when i ran a KOEO test.... i had that one before. Well if anyone can help, it would be appreciated.

Just to clarify...I think you have to push the pedal at least 3/4 of the way down for it to register. Its part of the system test.

Evidently from your codes, I would assume that it checks to make sure the throttle position sensor is working properly.

Yeppers...you're supposed to "goose" the throttle at one point in the test (I don't recall where) in order to test the TPS. It's telling you that the TPS never did anything so the "goose" test failed. In this case it failed, presumably, because you didn't "goose" it. ;)

no i goosed it, i pressed down about 1/2, didnt work, 1/4 didnt work, 3/4 ... didnt work and neither did to the floor :p. its towards the end of the test... i couldnt get the cylinder test to initialize. thats what i was trying to get to.... im thinking the TPS might be going bad? i dont know.. but i know the CPS isnt too happy either. My throttle sometimes goes crazy when idling... im thinking there is a problem there eh? I dont know.. if anyone has any ideas id be more than happy to hear them :thumb:

In that case I think your TPS is suspect. Check the connector first.

Disconnect your tps, and repeat the goose test. If you get the same result,
logically it would point to a bad tps... (theoretically):dribble:

If you did the test every which way possible and its still pointing to the tps....
iam thinking that the test did its job and you have a bad tps

well does anyone think the TPS might not be reading the throttle position? i tried the goose test again... i got the car to advance the timing... then got it do come back down. then checked the codes.. then tried the goose test. i pushed the throttle quickly to about 3/4 and the cylinder test didn't start. also... does the TPS have anything to do with my tach not working... or is that the CPS doing that?

I dont think the TPS has anything to do with your tach working. No working tach usually means the crankshaft position sensor or the camshaft position sensor. When my camshaft sensor went out, I lost my tach on the 93 ATX.
