What the **** am I doing wrong? I put the new water outlet in that I purchased off a parts car. Using a torque wrench i evenly tightened down the bolts on the t-stat housing and the top stud SNAPS. So i'm like no big deal just re-stud. So I remove both studs and go down and get replacements once again. So I get back oil these new studs to death and very very carefully screw the top one in by hand, and gently torque it in with the wrench. No problems there, now on to the bottom. Same thing oil it to death and gently turn it in, and POP what do you know peice of metal in my $@#&ing hand again!!!!! So there you go 2 water outlets down dunno how many to go. What am I doing wrong here? Should I find a water outlet off a '95 or what?

Have you checked to make sure the torque specs aren't a mistake? There's been a few over the years in the Ford manuals. Next go round back the torque off a notch from what you're using. Also I'm not sure about using lots of oil and being able to get accurate torque. It might **** it past the desired range. shrug

im talking finger bro. The hole i was threading into broke off just like the last water outlet. But hey, Rock Auto sells a brand new wateroutlet/t-stat housing for 38 bucks think this is the same part?

Because they are made of aluminum and they are complete piles of you know what. But yea it is the right listing because I went to airtex's homepage and they have different part # for every taurus engine including specific SHO 3.0 and 3.2. I believe in AirTex as they make excellent pumps and are quite reputable. Also, you guys do know that ford dicontinued this much needed part in '97 right?

Those same studs, except on the oil pump for the oil pickup tube snapped on me while putting Doug's (shotimer) car back together after a rod bearing change. Well, only one stud snapped. The other just stripped the threads out. Where did you get new studs? (in case I don't have luck finding new ones up here).
