I just received a 3.2 upper gasket set for my low compression build up, and now need to know of all gaskets needed below the HG's. Simple question, prob with a long answer, so they will be greatly appreciated.

Almost.

The TCS from Fel-Pro does have the front crank seal with it, but it's oversized. Get one from Ford if possible. E9DZ-6700-B. You will want the rest of the TCS, which also comes with the Front Oil Pan Seal (can order a rear-only from Ford if interested, or get the Fel-Pro oil pan kit & end up with an extra front seal).

In addition to the Rear Main, you want a Rear Carrier Gasket as well.

You'll also want some Permatex Ultra Gray RTV (or equiv). Sensor-Safe version.

Replace the Oil Pressure Sender, and consider the Oil Level Sender & the little gasket that goes with that as well.

The Oil Cooler gaskets (lg & smaller ring-style neoprene-type) are discontinued, so if you take the cooler off the block, you're rolling the dice. I have ONE of the large ones, none of the small ones left.

Good luck Aaron!

Fred, the gaskets for the oil cooler aren't in the full Ford gasket set? That's the only part of my block that hasn't been taken apart yet, and I didn't know how it was sealed. I was planning to take it apart tomorrow, but maybe I'll wait to see if I can get the gaskets for it first.

Russ has put together a nice little low-end kit there, perfect for the typical out-of-car rod & main refresh.

The optional oil level sender gasket is not included, and is something I like to do on the high-end refreshes (like my own), just because I'm pretty **** about this stuff. If the level sender's not leaking, no need to mess with it. I just figure I'm in there, it's accessible, the oil's out, why not?
Same with the oil pressure sender.

Note the Oil Cooler gaskets are not there either, but then for the typical jobs, I don't remove the cooler anyway. If the block's going all the way down to a machine shop, yeah I remove the cooler.

Every time I've worked with the Fel-Pro front crank seal, it's hung up on the outer diameter ridge of the oil pump, gone in crooked, and it's thicker than the Ford one, so it looks like it's not in there all the way (extends beyond the ridge instead of being flush like the Ford one when fully seated). I personally open the package & throw it away & use a Ford one without even bothering to try with it now. :)

Glad yours worked well. :thumb:

see my post in the feedback sction about the evil Felpro frant crank seal.

Others have told me they are horrible most of the time. Josh had said something to me about them being made in Peru and that they were not right. I had one on my 3.0 that went on ok, but was from an older felpro kit that Mark Nunnally had. I make sure to keep a nice supply of Ford Crank seals now, I think I stock 2-3 on the shelf just so I never have to deal with the felpro problem ones again.

Nothing ****** me off more when I fired up my 3.2 MTX for the first time and I was spewing oil fron the oil pump/FCS area. I thouht that I was going to have to redo my oilpump gasket there was so much oil running out.

My block is bare except for the oil cooler. Machine work should start next week. What do I do with it (oil cooler)? That's the only part of the motor I haven't taken apart, so I don't even know what to expect.

I used a FelPro Front main without much trouble as well... But I'm patient. As long as you're careful and get it started straight they seem OK. The ford seal is certainly easier to install, but the Felpro will work too in lieu of the ford piece.

I would recommend replacing the rear carrier gasket too. While you're there, migth as well eliminate it as a potential source of leaks.

Where is the oil cooler? Is that the plate with the elbow fitting that is right under the fuel rails?

No, where your oil filter screws into. The plate on top of the engine block is a crankcase vent.

If your shop is goinng to perform any machine work on the block, they are most likely going to remove the cooler. (It has to be done anyway-or at least should be)

Fel Pro sells a replacement gasket which I believe is rubbery and orange. The Ford one is blue. Luckily I had a new one.
