Hello everyone,
I’ve noticed my coolant temps are running between 195-205 which I think is high considering I’ve got a 170 tstat. What is everyone else seeing for temps? I ordered a new 170 tstat hopefully that will drop the temps. Thanks for looking

Hope you got a Reische thermostat, those lower temp thermostats the brick and mortar stores sell are not reliable. Googled studies done on thermostats and they found those brick and mortar can be up to 30 degrees off. Wish I had link but that was a year ago, has been a year with my Reische and no issues. Your within range on stock temps from what your showing.

My 160 stat runs 185 to 188 on the gauge.
Ok thanks. Perhaps my 170 stat is operating correctly. I'm gonna install the new 170 and see if there's any temp change. I'll let you know once I change it. Gonna be a week or so since the car is in the shop getting a custom exhaust made. Thank you for that reply

I have a 160t also and I can tell you it’s greatly affected by when your tuner sets your fan to come on at. Drive it around, get it up to 170 and let it idle. Wait to hear your fan kick on and it should stay on while idling. Should come on around 180. If you dont hear your fan at all and it’s now 200+ well that’s your problem……tell your tuner to turn it on sooner.

I have seen this with an Ortiz tune I had. Coolant was 205 and fan was not on. I turned the car off, swapped tune back to AJPTurbo, temps fell into the 190’s while swapping tunes. Started it up….fan came roaring on and lowered temps into the 180’s. That was all tune related. I thought there was something wrong with my fan or something but there wasn’t.

Speaking of Brad, can't give him enough credit, here it is Memorial weekend and he is working with me on revisions. He is a trooper.

I actually just got done doing some data logging, and with 74 degree ambient temp, I was running between 184-192 including multiple WOT pulls. Highest I saw was a brief spike to 196, and that’s on a stock Tstat. Unless it’s pretty hot where you live I’d say something’s up. In my far from expert opinion

You guys should try Redline Water Wetter or something similar to see if that helps lower temps. I forgot I started using that for 2020. I never was concerned with coolant temps before so I didn’t really have much to compare to…..It was an impulse buy and just sounds like a great additive to run anytime for no reason. It’s a “just because” thing for me

Ok I replaced my thermostat yesterday with a new Reische 170 thermostat. My temps are now around 175-190 compared to the 190-205 I was seeing before. Ambient temp was approximately the same so I’m happy with the lower temps! Thanks everyone for the replies.
