what is a ECT

thanks, guess i,ll change that today while i do the thermostat since i believe it right next to it

actually, that is the gauge sender right next to the thermostat. The ECT is under the throttle body on the back corner of the engine. Remove the air box and throttle elbow and it is right there.

You are right, though. This is a good time to replace it. Make sure you don't use the inexpensive plastic ECT.
