After fiddling with the factory latch, I finally got it to latch to the Cincy hood I recently aquired, but in order to get it to work I had to cut the bottom of the latch bracket and I no long really trust it to stay in place anymore (I yanked and pulled with no ill-effects, but better safe than sorry).

So now I've decided to go with some hood pins. I don't need anything fancy or locking like Aerocatch pins, but would perfer something that actually works and is of good quality.

I found some Sparco pins:

Anyone have any experience with these? Are they stainless or regular steel, paint or anodize? I've read that they're both stainless and anodize, but also that they're regular steel or aluminum and are painted.

These 3 also appear to be identical to the Sparco pins, perhaps they're all made by the same factory and different company slap their respective brand on after...

BTW the Cincy hood fits pretty darn good after some adjustments, I can't wait to get it painted.

dont paint it different colored body panels add hp:rofl:

Heres the pins I have, I forget where i got them though. I like them better then the regular pins because you don't have to worry about losing the pins, they pull the hood down tight and are 100% height adjustable, and these lock too, so people cant steal my engine:laugh_ti:

There kinda hard to see but there oval, and they have a tab you push down adn then it pops up and unlocks. To close you press the hood down and close it and it make the hood close nice and tight, there great to make the hood line up perfect.

You have the fancy Aerocatch pins ;). I was searching and saw you post that a while back.

I don't need a lock, my factory latch still works so nobody can open the hood anyway.

I'm either going with the Ford Racing Stainless pin, or the Sparco (found out it's steel and paint) depending on the price. I like how the sparco looks with the blue and all, but I want something stainless even more.

Didn't get it shipped to Canada, but Buffalo instead. I'm not paying those UPS bastards' rediculous brokage fees. Went over the border, came back and told the border guard it's a second hand hood (which it is, even if it's new :p ) for a 1994 Taurus that cost me $100 and off I went, no tax, no duties, no questions. I did have to write up a make shift sales slip before though.

Hood cost me $300, shipping to Buffalo from MA was $250, tho it cost the seller much, much more appearently. He said it's ok since we already agreed on the price and ate the extras, very very cool of him to do that.

I'm running Autozone brand hood pins. They're all stainless and cost about $10. I use them on the stock hood.
