This has been discussed before and all I can say from my own experiences is don't let them anywhere near an SHO.

Robby ,your car is outperforming most shos in this forum with far less mods than theirs if anything they should be asking you for performance tips.

PS.Since dyno day I have added a Shoshop Y-pipe with cats 2.5 custom catback with Edelbrock RPM mufflers and have cured my lean problem on my 73mm with an 19lb/hr sample tube.
Hoping to have raised my numbers a little closer to yours, the Edelbrocks may not have the best sound but by your numbers they do perform well.
Overall im happy with the gains ,the 73mm fix really woke things up on top end allowing the exhaust to do its thing.

You can't gap 'em. The ungappable anodes are not platinumn plated and will soon disappear. They are the wrong height to let the plug boots seal at the valve covers. They're not cheap. You won't gain horsepower from 'em. If you want to have a Bosch product on you car, use their oxygen sensors. You can get the correct Motorcraft AGSP32PP plugs for $3.79 each from local auto supply stores (O'Reilly or O'Reilly.com). I sure wouldn't use 'em.

As for the Edelbrock RPM mufflers, they are more expensive $180 bucks for two.
Im running them without the resonator and get rasp from 4500 rpm up.
They are suppost to outflow the other mufflers,i have the center on center 2.5 inch and you can see right tru them, pretty cool.[no restriction]
I have not dynoed on my new exhaust ,but their is a big difference, and with the xtra ponies i can live with the rasp.
And shoshop recommends these and they dyno everything for best performance products.
And if you read Robby's very short engine mod list the horsepower and torque numbers are very impressive ,I would contribute most of those numbers to the exhaust system.

i have the Bosch Platinums in my car and have had no problems with them after 7K miles. they came with 2 sets of tips (long and short). using the short tips, the plug wires fit fine and did not cause me any worry of not sealing correctly. they came pregapped but i checked them anyway. they gap just like any other spark plug.

I have no bases in which to judge as ive never had the summit turbos,I have had lots of good feedback on the summits they are much cheaper again much cheaper,no rasp[I believe]nice tone.
But no dyno feedback if your looking for performance.

Hmmm. I wouldn't use these on a SHO but I've used them on several 4 cylinder cars and they've worked just fine. There was nothing about them that stopped me from gapping them. Also, to me they're pretty cheap at about $1.50 from lots of chain auto stores.

yeah,

i used the bosch b/c it was sunday and we couldn't find any motorcraft ones. besides tyler, the intake jockey, can pull the intake in like 10-15 minutes. this is the easiest way to get to the back 3 plugs. he gapped thses "ungappable plugs" anyway. no harm if these crap out, right?

as for the rpms. i heard them on osman's old white sho. he also had the y-pipe, but stock turn down tips. sounded awsome! i think mine fart alot b/c of the monster chrome straight tips out back.

if you get turn downs with a resonator built in, they can sound very good!

on a side note:

my car DOES NOT like cold weather we've been getting in cali lately. idle hunts and sometimes will stall the car. i also smell gas when i first start it. i think this is that tube near the fuel pump, what's that thing called again? pretty sure this is the problem. i might as well replace the fuel pump. it starting to hum kind of loudly. besides, it's lasted 118K. i'm not all that interested in getting stuck.

what do you guys think?

see ya,
Robby

Without an anode sticking up out of the insulator, how do you measure the gap from cathode to anode? Without platinum on the cathodes, they won't last the full 60,000 miles as the high energy of the SHO's ignition system will quickly erode them on the three cylinders that fire "backwards."

thanks for the info scott. is there any harm in letting the bosch stay in there a while? i don't care if the car starts missing so long as there is no harm to the engine as a result.

i'm not being cheap, just got to much crap to do with the holidays to deal with it.

The platinum anode and ceramic insulator are flush. You measure the gap between the cathode and that flat, flush surface. It's as easy as that. You can always spend a $1.50 and try it out for yourself.

In my experience I didn't like the Bosch at all. With the Motorcraft everything was fine. I installed the Bosch and immediately noticed the car was harder to start. When the car was hot it took a lot of cranking to restart it. I put a new set of Motorcrafts in and the problems went away. I also tried the NGKs and they worked fine as well. The only problem was that they are more expensive and I didn't notice any difference.

The bosch plugs in robby's car are not the 2 or 4 electrode type, they are the typical design and can be gapped as normal, his car runs fine on them so i dont think they were a waste of $. If you are stuck on leaving spark plugs in for 60K miles, then get the expensive motorcrafts, but at half the cost, you will still easily see at least half the life.
