I've been searching and researching ignition coils and spark plugs for the V8 and see a lot of no name coils out there that are cheap, but I don't really trust that they would last for very long. I also see name brands like Visteon, and TRQ that have really good warranties and are not super expensive. I saw one warranty that was a "limited lifetime" and one that was warranted for 10 years. I have also seen Delphi coils for major money. So my questions would be, is anyone familiar with the TRQ and Visteon ignition coils?
Also, what spark plugs are recommended these days? I have used Bosch platinum before but I don't think I want those. I'm looking at some Motorcraft Platinum plugs since that is what was originally in the engine. I am just curious as to what y'all reccomend when it comes to coils and plugs. Thanks for any input.

I had terrible experience with ebay generic coils when I had my GenIII. Some people had a decent experience. I go OEM if I can. It's usually just a money thing but if I can swing it I get the Ford coils.

Does anyone have the number for the OEM Motorcraft spark plugs. I found a set of 8 on ebay, says it fits the SHO and the number is AGSF 32FM, but I'm not 100% that is correct.

I use to use the Autolite iridium plugs in my V8 SHO. Easily got ~60k out of them. But there are much better Iridium plugs out there now. The newer ones should be easier on the coils and last +100k miles.

After doing a little research, it seems the AWSF32FM plugs were replaced with the AGSF32FM plugs, these will need to be gapped at .042- .044.

So, which would be better, the OEM platinum, or an Iridium plug?

The iridium are a superior plug. Especially the ones with pucks on the electrodes.

Iridium last longer. They key is not messing up the metal if they have to be gapped. I don't have any problem with using platinum or double plat plugs. Copper is more conductive and platinum and iridium are more durable. They make iridium tip platinum disc on electrode plugs. I would get iridium that fits correctly. Whatever lasts longest for the rear bank. Iridium is much more heat resistant.

I have (3) OEM original coil-on-plugs that I replaced on my 1997 SHO . I replaced all (4) coil-on-plugs on the back bank of cylinders when one failed before I could do the 100k spark plug change. I kept the other 3 as spares in case I lost a front bank. If anyone would like them, IM me and give me an address to ship them to.

Thanks for the links. That price for the Delphi coils is the best I have seen for those, they are usually way more than that. I just read earlier that today, Delphi has been acquired by Borg Warner for 3.3 billion dollars. Wow!!!
