I don't think there was a black metallic option (I think the difference is that the metallic colors are sparkly if you look real close and the clearcoat has a glossy look). If your 98 is black, than it is Black Clearcoat.

Tropical Green

Hi Guys
I was looking at the choices so I could vote and you left out Tropical Green. Thats what color my 99 SHO is. Just an FYI

Whoops, accidentally voted for black metallic. Really mine is black clearcoat. The only two options for black on the gen3s were ebony satin and black clearcoat. ES was around 96 and 97, while black was used in 98 and 99.

What year did they have "charcoal" as an option? I've seen a ton of SHO's but never charcoal. Mine is silver, but I bet a darker grey like charcoal would look great. Anyone got pics?

According to the V8SHO.com link, the black in 97 is "Black Satin" instead of "Ebony Satin". It is also listed as Black Satin in the 1997 Taurus Sales Brochure just as an FYI for FUNMART and for those of you with a 97. http://www.v8sho.com/SHO/images/sales brochure/97i.JPG at the bottom left.
