I like turtle wax ice. No white powder can go on anything, easy to use. As far as polishing everything I use is all commercial 3m or qwik paint products.

I know I'm not a Gen4 guy (don't **** me for lurking in the Gen4 section. j/k), but I have to agree with bpd1151 and Crazy8. I've used Meguiar's for a while and have had very good luck with it. I use their products for everything from wheels and tires and interior to washes, waxes and detailers. I'll usually wipe the car down with the Quick Detailer once every week or two and it keeps the paint looking great in between waxes. I haven't tried their NXT line yet, but I will definitely have to give that a try when my stock in my garage runs out. lol.

I uesd to use Meguiars products, but now the only Meguiars I use is the #9 swirl remover when I have small swirls that need to be removed. I start by clay barring the car, then using the swirl remover as necessary, then protect the paint (and get shine) with Collinite 845. The Collinite goes on very easily, doesn't discolor plastic and trim, buffs off easily once it's hazed over (takes a bit on a cool car) and lasts longer than anything else I've ever used. And, yes, I've try Meguiars NXT. The NXT smells better, but only lasts about 1/3 as long as the Collinite.

Adam's Polishes. I have tried a lot including Meguiar's and Mothers but nothing is easier and makes a better finish then Adams. Not inexpensive, but worth every penny.

The Meguiars professional line stuff is very good. The off the shelf stuff not so much.

If you are looking for a great shine with the easiest to use product Adams is it. Nothing is easier to apply and lasts as long or shines as good as an Adams waxed vehicle.

I have been detailing professionally for over 30 years. 90% of the end result is technique and process, 10% is the actual chemicals you are using, as long as you are using a high quality product.

As a general rule, professional grade products are much better than consumer grade products. Meguiar's, Menzerna, Blackhole, Adam's, Poor Boy's, etc are all great products. pick one you like, and learn how to use it. Personally, I use Meg's 105, Meg's 205, Menzerna SIP , IP and 106 as my compounds, Menzerna Power Lock Polymer as my sealant, and any number of high quality carnauba waxes as the topper.

The biggest thing with Black (as with other colors) is proper washing, drying and QD'ing technique.

For over the counter stuff, Meg's Ultimate Wax gives a great shine.
I hate turtle wax products. Absolutely hate them.

I agree, to get a great final finish prep work is the key. Using a clay bar, paint cleaner, and polish before wax is the only way to get a great looking finish after waxing. Also, using something to remove haze and swirl marks is a necessity on a neglected finish. Gipraw hit the nail on the head. BTW, for light dust removal I love the California Duster and also nothing works like Quick Detailer to bring a finish back looking great. I'll leave to you guys to decide which detailer you like best. But after using several I keep coming back to Adams.

For wax I love Zaino products. Easy to put on, easy to remove and it lasts a while too. I use meguiars for other stuff. Asking a questions about car care products will get you 20 responses and 20 different recommendations. Anything you choose will give you good results as long as it's not the cheap stuff. All of the big companies make products.

I stopped using Meguiar's stuff after having problems with their bottles breaking. A few of them few from as little as 30 inches and broke. In all fairness to Meguiar's they did replace the first bottle of Detailer that broke, but after that they won't even answer my e-mails. Not so much that I wanted them to replace product but I was more interested in the fact that their bottles weren't holding up to normal abuse. I was very disappointed that I never got a thank you for letting them know...and after using other products I discovered that most of there products didn't perform nearly as well as some others...

i switched up what i did from when i first got it...

my car never needed polishing the paint is pretty durable

but mine was mothers clay, meguiars ultimate polish and meguiars ultimate liquid wax

the durability with the ultimate is not that bad

when i got the car i never polished it there were no swirls or defects I used a halogen light for inspection all i did was meguiars clay and NXT 2.0 liquid wax which lasted me almost 6 months in terms of durability over winter

i understand where mjhpadi is coming from with their quick detailer bottles being absolute crap, oh well i'm just more careful with them now and i keep seeing the bottles for less than 4 bucks so i'll grab a few whenever i see them

has anyone tried swissvax?

I haven't tried Swissvax, but I have heard good things about it. Amen about cleaning the wheels. Time and effort is all I can say. I wash them and then use waterless car wash to clean whatever I miss with the normal wash. I then will polish or glaze them and finally wax them. Although, I usually have to go over the wheels a couple of times to make sure I have all the wax removed.

Easiest way to clean the wheels is with a good wheel cleaner (I like Adams Green Wheel Cleaner or Sonax Wheel Cleaner) and a boars hair brush. These wheels are very easy to clean compared to other cars I've had. The boars hair brush takes off the dirt like nothing, and the wheel cleaner helps break it down alot.

I have used DRI Wash 'n Guard Waterless Car Wash recently and had good luck. Super easy to apply. You can get it on Amazon.

Actually got to hand wash the car today, since finally we have a day that is 75 and sunny! Wanted to go over the car quickly so I used Lucas Speed Wax. I'm pretty impressed with this product for a simple quick touch up to the finish. It removed the water spots that I couldn't reach and left a nice shine. My wife also uses this to wax the camper, protects darn well. Makes the camper look good and I did the whole car including wheels in under 20 minutes. Lastly, the car was sitting in full sun and no streaking. If you're looking for a fast easy product that perks up the shine, Lucas Speed Wax might be the ticket for you. I think it offers a bit more protection then Quick Detailer and is really no harder then detailer to apply.
