I've got passenger side wet carpet. I've heard it could be heater core. What are some things I should check?

my 93 I used to have did that. When it got wet, it was really saturated. I think I remember checking the ac drain hose, but I can't remember exactly what the fix was. Sorry.

Does the wet spot smell like anti-freeze? Look up under the dash for any signs of green fluid. Wipe up the wet spot with a paper towel. Is the fluid green?

Next, check under the car for a hole in the floorboard. Is it wet all the time, or only when the weather is wet? Is there any rust around the windshield, or the A post?

Are there any other places water could be getting inside, like a bad molding around the door?

If you have been using the A/C, the drain could be blocked, or has become dislodged.

Just some possibilities, rangerj

sounds to me like a heater core hose broke. just a suggestion. do you have decent hot air when you turn the heat on?

If the heater core leaks or the hoses spray coolant into the heater box, it SHOULD drain out the AC condensate drain.

If the drain is clogged, of course it won't.

If you determine that the leak is not coolant, remove the plastic air intake panel at the base of the windshield, on the passenger side. Check to see that there is no debris blocking water drainage from the cavity, and check to see if the heater inlet extension is securely attached to the sheetmetal base. I had water leaking into my car soaking the passenger carpeting each time it rained or after a vigorous washing. A chunk of foam and a few leaves blocked the cavity drain on mine, allowing water to accumulate and overflow into the poorly sealed inlet extension,
and ultimately into the heater box.
