This motor is toast, but I'm going to tear her down and rebuild.

I'm thinking I almost blew a rod. Blows smoke out of oill filler hole, and dipstick hole.

I bought another engine for the time being.

You spun a bearing.

But that's not it. It was driven for a decent amount of time on that spun bearing which chews it up even further. Without the bearing (and splayed rod), the piston contacts the bottom of the head (the tapping you're hearing in the video). With the piston smacking the head, you've "vented" it with a crack or two giving you smoke pouring out of any opening.

Awaiting confirmation.

This baby sure needs TLC. Clutch, y-pipe, brake lines, motor, she's under the knife pretty good. I'm going to get through this. Hopefully.

Good luck with it. I think you did the right thing to buy a new motor! The noisy motor may not be worth rebuilding, depending upon what the crank looks like, but you'll at least be able to part it out.

I bought a SHO with this sound and we tossed the old motor and put in a junk yard motor. Nothing was worth reusing outside of accessories.

Basically. That's what I'm probably going to do. Too much risk and time spent to tear her down. I'm gonna keep a few things. apart from that, toss it. Junkyard motor here we come. It seems the junkyard motors fair well with proper maintenance.

Well, going to bring this thread back to life because I have an update. I just got my car back from the junkyard swap on the 8th of November. Fluids were changed, only minor issue is an ABS light, but I don't think the video I'm going to show you now will be due to that.

I have two videos, this knocking was after I drove it on the freeway for about 40min at around 65mph, and then spirited city driving.
