so...crank sensor got stupid the other day, and in the process of diagnosing it, i attempted several times to start the car, resulting in very animated engine movements. anyone who's watched a SHO engine attempt to start when things aren't right knows how much they can get to buckin. well, all that movement tends to knock stuff loose. in my case, it worked the y-pipe loose from the midpipe (easy fix) and knocked a shift rod stabilizer bar loose...but not from it's usual weak point on the trans...the flat part the rod is secured to on the shifter housing snapped! i've never seen one break there before. guess it's time for a ghetto rig until i can get it to a shop and welded back up. anyone else seen one break there?

mine broke in the middle before, but I think it was a little rusty and was hallow inside. thick metal piple over rod and welding made it much better than oem.

yeah, i just cut down a piece of 1/8" flat steel stock i had laying around and ran some bolts through the rod and the shifter and bolted it together. one of these days i'll have to get pics of my shifter boss fix using part of an intake bracket.
