**** yeah man I absolutely encourage you to see how far you can go with the build! The more people getting after it the better!

I get what you’re thinking, but the factory breather cap itself isn’t flawed or undersized. It’s designed to vent air only at the correct fill level, and under normal conditions it should stay dry. Seeing light vapor over time can happen, but if there’s noticeable oil residue at the cap, that’s usually a sign of aeration or pressure and a good indicator that the fluid needs to be changed — not that the vent needs to be modified.

At the end of the day it’s your call. I’d just hate to see you add an extended vent and end up chasing the same issue again. Running the factory cap and staying on top of fluid changes has worked well for me without any issues, so it’s at least one example of effective preventative maintenance to keep in mind.

@aaron240 makes the Billet PTU brace with heat shield. If you send him a DM I’m sure he can fill you in on more details. I’ll give him a heads up to monitor his account here.
So I found something like I am thinking of online made for an explorer that I’m sure can be made to fit the Taurus. I provided a link below. What interval do u change your fluid? I was trying to go 20k roughly but seems like with my driving habits, long road trips, and daily driving maybe I should shoot for 10k what’s your opinion?

Lies again...
I said the turbos are enough to blow up a stock transmission (and they are). If you are going to quote me, at least be factual..... It's really not a good look man.
I also said that those turbines are the biggest restriction and that your porting pre-turbine would do no good and would actually hurt response, but you got mad when I told you that too.

My name is sure in your mouth a lot though.... Is there something you want to tell us?

Although that PTU brace is actually a good idea and decently executed. I'm impressed if you came up with that by yourself.....
Hey Matt, what trans improvements do you suggest before upgrading to the GH turbos? I plan on this upgrade when I graduate college (roughly 3 months left). I have already planned on getting the torque converter from you. I am up in the air with the ray besto’s clutches and helix auto sports ones. I feel the helix’s ones are far superior but not sure if needed for the power I’ll be making and from my readings of others the rays aren’t much better than stock. I also like the PTU brace it seems that the case flex you spoke of prior is definitely something others believe to be an issue to. I wondered what a billet built case would run out of curiosity.

Thanks for all the help and advice.

Bc the fluid capacity is so small and it’s in such close proximity to heat I’d change it at least every 10k. Even if just a daily driver and not racing. If you get into drag racing often I’d change the fluid every oil change.

I changed my fluid in less than 1k miles multiple times and often changed it regardless of use as part of my track prep.

Honestly, I don't have the answer on the clutches. I have a set of the Raybestos sitting in a box. I had a customer that had a custom-built unit from Royal Transmission, but I'm unsure which clutches he uses, but the 2-3 shift was way early with the default tune. Had to remove all the delays to get it shifting late enough. This told me that it was grabbing gears way fast internally. On a full weight car, some stock transmissions can't handle 500 WHP but most can. The converter clutch is the weakest link out of all of them.

Thank you for the input I’ll be in touch soon because I need an updated tune for my down pipes that shipped out today.

Sometimes I think the PTU oil is an over exaggerated problem. In 5 years I changed my oil only once. The PTU has a hundreds of pulls on it with the 10k tuned miles ‍♂️. Sitting at about 540 WHP without nitrous.

Well boys any one want to argue that the PTU is still not a ****** designed flawed hunk of S***. Can’t wait to show you this one.

Here is my assumption. The rear out put to the drive shaft has some bearings in it and whatever they are they suck. Mine started slowly grinding = to the humming noise I was hearing. Those bearings are not great from factory. There is a lot more resistance than necessary. Took my brand new one I’ve been doctoring up for this moment to a transfer case shop here in Vegas and first thing he said is damn it has a lot of resistance. Compared to my jeep one I’d say twice if not 3 times the amount. Going to see what I can do about that issue but here is mine that detonated the other night. I should have the rest of it out by tomorrow night. Had to go to the lakers mavs game tonight.

Well raybestos is officially going out of business and I can’t find those clutches anywhere. Are you willing to part ways with them and one of your torque converters in a package deal?

Wow. I was hoping those pieces would be sold off and stay in production. Cardone stuff was already gone. That First Brands fiasco is going to k ill off alot of aftermarket parts.

That may still be the case but as of now no more are being sent out to distributors and it’s looking like the company is going dissolve pretty quick from what I’m reading and seeing.

My problem is simple I feel like with where I’m at in my build and the direction I’m continuing to head I need an upgrade from stock but I don’t necessarily think I’m going to need the helix auto sports ones either. They are pricey and I don’t know that I’ll ever get to that kind of power. I’ll try but who knows when I will get there or if and for the investment it’s a hard investment. I do thank them heavily for making something for the platform and commend them on the product. From the looks of it they are amazing.

Raybestos Brakes and Raybestos Powertrain are not the same company. Raybestos Powertrain is not under First Brands group.

If you want the Raybestos clutches they are sold on EBay for $299.99. Whatever It Takes Transmission sells them through their eBay store. Which is interesting bc I believe if you call WITT, they sell for more money. Their eBay store is separate and cost is less.

I don’t have any data on them but I’m going to bet they are better than OEM.

My car has 200K+ miles on it and the PTU has yet to fail. I tapped a drain plug and I religiously change/flush it every 15K with Amsoil and it comes out yellowish every time. I do have ceramic coated DPs with heat shields near the PTU.
how did you do this? do you have a thread with pictures?
