lol. wish it was the turbocharger...lol...and yes it does it all the time. it started after i hit a big dip in a parking lot. along with my anitfreeze leak. ive yet to check that one out it has slowed. so the idler pulley has a lot to d with this? and can it effect gas mileage

Try taking off your serpentine belt and manually spin each pulley to see where the noise is coming from - it could just be a worn bearing in one of your pulleys. Spinning each one by hand will give you a better idea of the culprit than standing next to the car with the motor running trying to pinpoint it.

Take the alt belt off the engine, start the car . Is the noise still there ?
Do the the same with the WP/ PS belt . Same question ?
Spin all the pulleys by hand . After that id check the timing belt tensioner.

If I read your other post right you mention you go from hot to cold on the temp gauge because you have air in the system. It could most likely be the water pump trying to pull air around the cooling system. You need to BLEED your cooling system before you destroy cooling system components(a.k.a. water pump).

It's possibly your alternator making the noise especially since your battery light is on.
