I was wondering if anyone with a stock, well maitained gen 1 would be willing to do some ride height measurements for me. Specifically, from the ground to a specific point on the subframe. Say, right below the lower control arm? I need the info in preperation for my major winter project. I know, its still summer-what am I doing thinking about winter projects? The way I see it, its never too early to get going. Thanks!

you mean a stock, very low mileage gen 1 ;)

Those coils like to sag :squint:

Are you interested in my moog ride height setup? follow the link to my '89 SHO page to see just how close to stock it rides.

I can get measurements tomorrow if need be

Kenny, at your leisure would be great. Did you cut your Moogs? Regardless, it should be close enough for my needs. Even Eibachs would probably do the trick. I highly doubt I will be able to get everything 100% perfect anyway. :bonk:

I don't know what you need the measurements for, but maybe the distance from the center of the hub to the fenderwell would be a better measurement. That way tire/wheel size doesn't have an effect.

I would gladly make measurements, but my car sits a little high in the front right now (nothing in the engine bay). ;)

it sounds like he is worried about ground clearance more than ride height. More of a functional vs. cosmetic thing. I know Glen has a few plans and tricks up his sleeves :D

Ill get a few measurements for you tomorrow Glen :thumb:

Measure what?

Well which is it?
from fender wall to rim edge...
or from rim edge to fender wall.....
just messing with you........I will measure the stock distance on Snow. He of course has the factory spec'd OEM as close to original as possible.....So what all do you want measurements on.???

Wow! Alot better response than I was hoping for! Thanks much everyone.

What I am trying to determine, is the difference in height of the subframe itself. The overall goal is to figure the effect on the suspension geometry when lowered severely, and correct any issues (ie bumpsteer, etc). And lose a few pounds in the process. :D

Glen, I've got about 4 3/4 inches from the ground to the bottom of the subframe just below the LCA. My car is wearing Tokico struts and Eibach springs that 17 months old and maybe 5k miles.

Not only will the tire diameter effect the measurement of the ground to subframe distance, but subframe bushing thickness will also.

yes it will. Good thinking.

Here are mine.

Moog CC with one coil removed in the front, AL SFBs, stock tire size on 15 inch wheels.

I have 6 1/8 inches of clearance fron the ground to the lowest point of the subframe (middle front protion thats used as a jack-point) ;)

Kelvin, good point. However, I do not think that these variances will be significant enough to make a difference for me. Most folks seem to stay as close as possible to the original tire's outside diameter. In regards to the subframe bushings, does anyone have a rough estimate on the range that is out there. I imagine it was covered in the great SFB fiasco early in the year, but I do not recall. Similiarly, I do not think the differences are more than fractions of an inch. Don't get me wrong though. Like I mentioned before, it is a very valid point, and I will keep it in mind.

Kenny, thanks again!

I have al sfbs from Bruce (netviper) and moog cargo coils with monroe sensatracs, 1.5 coils cut. I have 2 inches between the top of the tire and the bottom of the fender. This is less fender gap than my buddies eclipse gst. I dont know why people fret so much about the fender gap on our cars, it seems acceptable to me for a sedan...
