weird knocking issue

Heya,
I have got one of the weirdest knocking issues ever. When I first start up the car it's perfectly fine, no knocking, nice power, etc. Usually when the car reaches normal operating temp and it's warm out, I get some knocking noise from 2-3k under load. I was wondering what some possible options it could be other thant the rodbearings. The reason being is I'd think it would show up while the car is cold and under load, and it's definately not. Anyways, any more insights would be appreciated.

I would suspect this knocking is serious. If it shows up after normal operating temp has been reached, this means the oil is thin, and is not providing as much padding for metal parts. Thus something is hitting easily at that point. This is a knock, not a ping, correct? Ping under heavy load would be the timing is too advanced (might be caused by low-octane gas and/or chip that advances timing).

Don't know, it might be, but it doesn't sound like it. Although I have seen it lessen to an extent when changing gasoline octanes, the plugs have been replaced with the factory motorcraft double platnums, which I thought would lessen the issue (which is has somewhat) but other than that , still there frown

Change the knock sensor to remove that part of the equation. Check the rod bearings. Check the cam chain tensioners & chains for slack.

Last time I was in there a few months back, the chains looked fine, and when I had my 60k done, the mechanic said that there wasn't any slack and the tensiors looked good. So I guess it's either the knock sensor or the rod bearings

here's the latest update, I just finished off a tank of 89 and filled it with 93 octane + some fuel injection cleaner, the issue has lessened even more....so I'm thinin it's most likely the knock sensor in this case.....am I right in this assumption?

Most likely i run 93 oct in my sho all the time but i still got a knock. so i think i will be replaceing my knock sensor soon....

Current update, I just replaced the air intake temp sensor , the one in the airbox, and it made a pretty big difference Next is the knock sensor and I should be all set.
