I ripped out all unneeded parts on my car and weighed them.

Interior-195lbs (trunk, headliner, rear seats, door panels, all carpet and plastic pieces, but not including front seats)

A/C System- 27lbs (gutted compressor)

FYI hood weighs 55lbs

My car come with no keyless entry, no sunroof. It is the lightest possible gen2.

my weight reduction is complete as well. Seems if you remove enough weight to shave off a few tenths on your 1/4 miles then logic dictates that I could have a 12 second sho if I just took enough weight off.

Now if I can only get it to start:

Does it have a passenger airbag? Did you take both of them out? Did you take out the heater core?

Is the glove box still in place. That thing is built like fort knox. The outer cover/hinge/latch is light, but removing the box and everything else will cut a few pounds out.

It did not come with a passenger side airbag. And I haven't run it yet as I'm doing many more upgrades right now, But I'm positive it will be loud on the highway. I will be leaving in the glovebox and heater core for daily driving and I will be putting the rear seats back in. But it will all come out when I go to the track.

BTW I forgot to weigh the floor mats so that's an extra 7 or 8 lbs. I am looking into racing seats to replace the 110lbs of full power stock front seats.

Is it pretty loud at highway speeds now? I think it would be on the point of unbearable for me
I drove Dave Shultz's gutted and caged 95. I wasn't going highway speeds for long, but it was loud. I could hear every grain of sand that was hitting the fenderwells.

I see you gutted the AC compressor, but did you remove the condenser and lines?

Yes. That 27lbs is the total weight of the compressor internals, pulley/clutch, condensor, lines, and the other two components (dryer and ? Not sure)

The Fidanza will save 13 more pounds. Any other weight-saving ideas?

Is this a GenI or GenII. If it's a GenI, switch to a GenII starter - much lighter tahn the GenI's. Yes, some electrical work would need to be done, but it'd save some weight.

Scrape the sound-deadening material off the floor and out of the trunk. Gut the doors (remove the motors, actuators, locks, etc.), and replace the rear door glass with lexan.

The wiring harness is a total boat anchor. Once the doors are gutted a lot of the interior wiring harness can be removed.

The dash is heavy. Replace it with some aluminum to hold up the gauges.

The bumpers are also heavy. Gut the bumpers and leave just enough material to hold up the covers.

Charcoal canister...fender well covers...parking brake cable...the list goes on and on and on...

If the fog lamps are still there you've not even started yet.

;)

Charcoal canister? What is that? I need to leave in the fenderwell covers because it will still be my daily driver and I live in Wisconsin.

Before timed laps I usually tried to drain my bladder and evacuate my bowels for a few lbs savings.

Shave all body hair and wear a speedo. A few of us in NJ have a really bad running joke that I will avoid driving my car at the drag strip by recruiting a goldfish (they are about 280 lbs lighter and 6'4" shorter than I am) with toothpicks for arms and legs.

I can't believe I just shared that...
