K....I had my mind made up for about for about 4 months that I was gonna get a high comp 3.2 with a butt-load of head work done and be happy with it. Now I'm starting to lean back towards my supercharger longing.

Now, as I've never experienced a boosted car before, I wanna know what the down side to owning a boosted car is? I've heard boost is addictive, and like crack, you just keep wanting more cuz the initial hit ain't enough, and obviously traction is an issue....but this will be a weekly driver...probably not daily, as I'll have a Gen III beater for that ....but it will see duty often. So I'm wondering...what are potential drawbacks to a blown gen II SHO? I guess what I'm trying to figure out is what's going to be better for me? A supercharged set-up or a built HC motor? I ain't really worried about price....as they both cost pretty much the same.

So let's get it on!!!!!!!

half-way there, I think.
Drawbacks.... hmmm.... let me think.... oh!! gas mileage will go down, unless you can find a way to keep your foot out of it. As far as it being like crack, I think crack would be cheaper.

I would say a N/A SHO is a novel idea, like a purist thing, getting the most out of what is already there. I like that type of thinking. However, the look on ANYBODY's face, or the grin on yours, on the street alongside a 10+ psi blower car (Taurus?!?!?) when it blows off pressure would be much more of a reward... standing still. While the potential for mischief is greater, the need to be mischivious to provoke awe is much less...
If apples are apples... with cost in mind, Go Boost.

Boost, all the way, boost. I have toyed with the idea of building up another NA SHO, as I loved my cammed 95, but I would only get one that has already been built, as it just costs too much to do one from scratch. You can get that turbo SHO for $2000, remove all turbo parts, and sell the car. You end up with a car faster than ANY NA SHO, and for a pittance in comparison.

Yes, a well built NA SHO is amazing, and a lot of fun. But for the money, boost is the way to go. Do you think all of us would still be boosting, what with all the broken transaxles and half shafts and all the other things if it were not TOTALLY addictive?

I understand that with a supercharger it would be better to run race fuel or you end up with pinging. As a daily, or weekly, driver, as long as you are not into boost a whole lot, 92 or 93 octane works fine, but with a lot of boost you will want an even higher octane. I have driven (but don't own) supercharged SHOs, and the adrenaline is unreal. The low end of the gears can get squirly, but man, what a rush!!!:3gears:

That only depends on how much boost you run whether it be supercharged or turbocharged. The Outlaw makes 369whp & 291wtq on 9 psi with only the slightlest hint of pinging at 8000rpm, even in 100* weather and that's on Crappy Colorado 91 Octane. That'll will soon be changing though  whp & wtq, that is.
