i got a new pump from ford and am waiting on some parts until i complete my front 60k..

the old pump seemed to be leaking from where the smaller coolent outlet hole mates to the engine (top hole near the front of the engine)

the gasket, or sealing ring that ford supplies doesent seem like a very tight fit.. do people usually use gasket sealer to aid the quality of the seal? maybe it expands when heated by the coolent? a faulty seal is what caused my problems in the first place, glad the ford pump replaces the housing and front portion.

the larger ring i assume goes on the inlet tube that kinda fits into where the lower intake plenum has a bit of a valley. i didnt find the ring i'm supposed to replace, i'll dig around for it a bit later.. should i put some sealer around that one also? didnt seem like quite the tight fit either.

You do not use sealer with O-rings. Especially the one against the block. The sealer will cause the gap between the block and the pump to be a fraction of an inch greater and reduce the sealing force on the O-ring. The thicker O-ring fits on the tube in the valley between the ridges that trap it in place.

If you have any doubts about the correct seals, the Fel-ProES70425 water pump seal set has more than enough parts to close up the pump.
