I don't now if anyone has done this but I wanted to share this with you all
I replaced a water pump yesterday and did it without taking off the crank pulley/ timing belt thus saving a bunch of time and effort. The key is to get a new Prestone water pump that is just the pump it's self without the back of the housing. If your patient you can change it with just taking the top timing cover off and remove the bolts from the bottom 2. Once you have that you can carefully remove the front pump side of the pump assembly. The top bolts are easy, the bottom 2 larger bolts are where it gets difficult. You just need to use an wrench ( 12mm I believe) to carefully remove them. You need to have the bottom 2 cover loose to get enough angle to remove them. Don't forget the one 10 mm bolt that right next to lower 12 mm bolt. Once you have them all loose, the front portion of the pump will pull way for the back portion. If the last person who change it used a gasket sealer, you will have to scrape it off with a razor blade or something. Replace the same way it came out. You will have to carefully manipulate the bottom bolts back in as the lower timing belt covers will be in the way. I am not sure about if this will work with atx. The part # is B 125-5532 and it is Prestone brand. It is a new pump and was under $100.
