Good evening everyone, ever since last week I've been hearing a hissing sound coming from the passenger side of the engine and it has been getting louder. Now my car has 45k miles on it, and I rarely go over 6K rpm's, is possible my w-pump bearing is going or my t-belt has started making noise. The pitch of the hissing gets higher as I rev her up.
Tomorrow I am going to change my drive belt to see if that is it. If it is not, I will check my drive belt tensioner, maybe thats it.
Is it a common problem that the w-pump bearing goes bad inn this pump?
Please advise, thank you.

Use a long wooden dowel, or a long screwdriver, and with the engine running, CAREFULLY place one end of individual accessories and the other to your ear. Sort of the old coffee can and string phone kids used to play with. My money is on the tensioner.

Rarely does the water pump's bearing fail. The pumps usually fail by leaking at the shaft seal. Do a more detailed inspection of the source of the noise.

Usually a hissing sound is the fuel pump.

You are correct, the fuel pump does make a hissing noise but that is not the issue here. The noise is coming out of the front pass. engine compartment near the alternator.
