Water Pump Issues

I am developing a slow coolant leak in the front of the motor that I have narrowed down to water pump. My question is where can I find a decently priced replacement? I have SPDATT's price sheet and his says O'Reilly's and that's not in Ohio and they won't mail order. Anyone know where to find one and how much. Also I have heard about the rebuilds and them being only the front half of the pump. Are there any downsides to this or is everything ok? wink

The rebuilds are fine. I believe Scott uses them as well...I know one of his favorite places for parts is rockauto.com. The rebuilds are only the front half, but that is the part that has all the moving parts that breakdown. The rebuilds also usually have a life time guarantee, so if they ever do start leaking again, you get another free of charge. Try RickieFrat as well, he can get them at a pretty good price. Also, when changing the waterpump it is a good idea to change your CPS and timing belt. **** while you have that side of the engine apart might as well do the accessory belts too.

NAPA has the AI Cordone which is what Scott has reccomended. Just make sure you go/call a company owned NAPA. You can pick the pump up for around 56 bucks for the 3.0L and 63 bucks for the 3.2L. The Felpro gasket kit that Scott has on his parts list comes with all the O rings and gaskets however it does include the pump mateing gasket for the 3.2L ATX. When you get the pump it should include the correct gasket for mateing. All other gaskets/orings are identical.

Try to get the reman pump from a local source as you can usually get a lifetime warranty and easily recoup your core charge. That is much harder to do with the mail orders.

BTW when you call napa they will initally try to sell you a new Airtex pump (new) for 130 bucks you will have to ask for the A1 Cordone (reman) with the part # (this is not a napa part number but will crassover) that is on scotts parts list. As I already posted about 55-65 bucks depending on which pump. You can also go to NAPA's web sight and get all the info then call your local napa.
