I had a similar constant damp carpet on the driver side. I think what finally fixed it was pulling out both the top door rubber rail and inside rubber door weather seal, scrubbing the channels and the rubber clean of pine needles and moldy funk with scrub brushes and a shop vac, and then re-installing them with RTV gasket sealant on their metal lips. Lubricate the seal surface with dielectric grease. Also, a tweak to the door strike pin (and maybe even the hinges) to keep the door tight and positioned lower if necessary.
If you park near trees, the windshield motor/air intake space between the hood and windshield can have the drain holes on either side clogged with debris, and water will pool. A poor seal around the passenger side air intake or the factory body panel sealer can leak, or worse, you go through a car wash and it overflows. Good to take off the wipers, the plastic grilles, and clean this out regularly with a vacuum, long screwdrivers, scrub brushes, etc.
The inside of the doors are also not water-tight. They have drain slots on the bottom that can get plugged up, and water will collect in the door. Clean those holes out with a pipe cleaner. Since I park on a hill, I added another drain hole in the front corners.
