I have the interior all stripped out to on the 90 to replace the carpet and seats.problem is ever since i got this car it has leaked down the kick panel on the driver side!where the **** is it coming from,im talkin rain water not coolant!the car did sit for several yrs.and yes i cleaned out enuff acorns to feed a million starvin ethiopian squirrels. The door jambs n under the hood actually looked like the car was under water( it wasnt) it was a Fl car so some of the sealer on the seams look a little dry but wouldnt think that would effect it.There was a huge nest under the cowl cover and i cleaned it out well, did i miss some drains there? i notice when i wash my other tauri that water comes out in the front wheel well, never have noticed that on my 90 .Open for suggestion guys(stay out of the gutter n up on the curb)

does it have a moon roof? If so, one of the hoses coming from it probably got clogged or developed a leak. They go down the a pillars.

The only thing you can do is get a hose, and by taping off sections of you windshield and door pillar, you will eventually find it. With mine, the trunk fills up with water to the point the spare tire floats, and no, I have never found it either.

No moon roof.its some where in the cowl! Eric show the pics, body struture is same on 1 n 2 gen

I'll dig around here when the woman gets outta the office... I can remember having a shot of the driver seat straight out that should be a good shot... if not the car is still "around" and I'll snap some more when I get over there again..

you have everything out you say? I'd check the backside of the carpet under some bright lights and see if you can't see some discoloration, and see how high up it is, and or where it's coming from.. suprised there aren't any lines or anything on the sheet metal where the water has been running... I know there is a fat rubber grommet on the main harness over there.. the steering "boot" and the holes for the pedals, but those don't really make any sence if its rain water, because that stuff *should run down the gutters on the side.... hmmm

i had the same problem with my gen 2, it was under the plastic vents by the wipers, a small rust hole in the corner of the drain rail (rust belt) i pulled the plastic, removed the wiper assembly, wire brushed everything and used some roof tar and sealed the whole thing up, maybe the factory sealer is dried up, worth a shot i guess, plus it looked better since looking down the vents were no longer dirty body colored :]

Remove the cowl and check the plastic piece on top of the HVAC inlet. It has a sealer that shrinks and pulls away after a few years. Reseal this and also clear the cowl tray of any debris while you're in there.
I had water getting in whenever it rained heavily, and sealing this piece fixed it.

if you have the interior completely out get a bunch white of smoke bombs and light them off in side the car with all windows up and doors shut. then once them cabin is full of smoke start looking for the leak. it should reveal every leak that the car has.

Ok had the cowl covers off and it is totaly rust free,I will look at the inlet in the morning and see if that is it,Weird thing is it,s only coming in on the driver side,i did pour water in the cowl but could not see any runnin down. It,s apparent now that it is coming down behind the firewall matting
