Just looking for ideas as to the best way to wash my engine and engine bay. I pulled off the engine cover and it's pretty dirty under. Any suggestions are appreciated.

I use Amazing Roll Off (or some other All Purpose Cleaner - APC) in a spray bottle. I'll spray the APC on the engine and agitate it with a soft brush, then hose it off using a 7-pattern spray nozzle on the "Shower" setting. This way I'm not power washing moisture or other gunk in to connectors and spark plug wells. I let that dry a bit, then mist some 303 Aerospace Protectant over the entire engine bay and wipe it down. This leaves an engine bay that looks like new. Not too shiny and not streaky.

When my sister in law was selling her Fusion I did this process to her engine bay. She hadn't cleaned it in the 5 years she had the car, it looked like the car spent its life near a gravel road. Unfortunately I didn't take any before photos, but here is the after photo. [It appears I forgot to clean the hood liner - oops]

I had my engine bay cleaned for Carlisle Ford Nationals but not since then. That photo looks good. I put a coating of MeGuiar's Back to Black on some of the plastic trim and it looks good. I will probably have to freshen it up in a couple of weeks but for now it is fine.

1) Spray simple green on a warm engine
2) Soak for 5 min or so
3) Rinse well

Towel Dry (or use a yard blower) and then apply Stoners Trim Shine (generously spray - it gets in every nook and cranny).
