Have a 2010 GEN 4,with 100k miles, live in New Hampshire and just had my washer fluid pump stop working. Have no idea what the part number might be or how to diagnose why washer fluid isn’tSquirting as it should. Washer fluid tank is full, there’s no freezing in the lines, but nothing is coming out. The wipers do start working as they should when the wiper stalk is pressed in and fluid is normally dispensed. Any thoughts?

Can you hear the pump working? I assume the fluid mix is correct for the temperatures this time of year.

If you can't hear the pump when you press the fluid to activate then either the pump or the power to the circuit is faulty. I'm sure a multimeter and maybe an extra person to engage in the vehicle while trying to measure voltage to the pump should narrow it down. maybe even a fuse, but I doubt the circuit would have its own fuse.

If you decide to get smart and tape the washer fluid button down and test with a d.v.o.m. the pump does time out after a certain amount of time.

I recall the pumps being the weak point.

Even when the fluid mix is correct, they can still freeze up. Over time, the methanol evaporates out of the tip leaving just water behind. This makes an ice plug in the tip.

Warm up the squirter tips to get the ice plugs out, then they will work fine. Use them every other day or so to keep the fluid in the tip full of fresh fluid.

Guess what? Must have been ice plugs - they warmed up and work now. Should I add anything to the washer fluid to prevent or minimize happening in future? Or just use them every day or so?

I think so. There are even colder climate winter mixes you might indulge in for the winter months that are good to -20/-30 ish. Otherwise probably fine using it frequently.

If it does go out just remove front right tire mud guard. You don’t have to take wheel off. It’s right there. Just replace with 28 dollar part. Super easy.

I use the purple stuff now in the winter instead of the blue stuff after we had issues with one of our vehicles when it was sub zero for a week. It's rated for a bit lower temp.

They do sell kits to warm the fluid. They also sell these bad boys... https://www.everblades.com/heated-windshield-wiper-kit/
