When my car has sat all night it will fire right up. If it has sat for only about 30 min it will also. If it sits for 1-2 hrs or more...up to 8 it will crank and crank for about 5-10 sec before starting. I have tried cycling my fuel pump several times before starting and that doesn't help at all. If I hold the gas pedal down about 1/4 it will help a little bit, but when it starts it revs up high and i get a little rod knock that I don't like. This is extremely aggravating, once it starts it is fine. I don't know how to fix this. Please help!

Try pushing the gas pedal to the floor when cranking. This will shut off the fuel injectors and clear out the flooded situation you are experiencing on a warm motor.

This also works good when the temp is really cold and you want to get some oil circulation through the motor before it starts. If you floor it before you crank it, it will not start until you let up on the gas.
