Let me make sure I understand you. You have a Sable and you are going to do an engine swap to either a duratec or a Sho, right? What is in the Sable now?

Performance wise, you would get more out of the sho engine. If you are dead set on doing a swap and want performance, that is what I would do.

However, with that said you could probably buy a decent SHO for what you would spend on the swap. If the Sable is in running order, I would get the SHO and keep the Sable for a DD. Just my 2 cents.

Also, your posts would be much esier to read and understand if you used periods and capitalization. Thanks

That platform came with Vulcan and Duratec. I think it would be much easier to swap in a duratec. TCCA probably has info on this somewhere.

There are a lot of threads in this forum about putting a SHO engine in something other than a SHO. I can be done, but you will have 2 different wiring harness arrangements, as the engine likes the harness it was born with.
To be absolutely sure of a trouble free swap, you would need a whole donor car available to pick off the parts you need to install in yours.
The Vulcan is not an embarrasment of a motor, and the other two choices are not 10 X better. If there is nothing wrong with your motor, I would use it until it died natually.

That or like Jayro said, just buy a Gen1/2 SHO and keep the vulcan for a DD. I only spent $3500 total initial cost on both of my 90's. 2K for one and $1500 for the other.

And we dug around a while till we found the wife's '01 Duratec SEL for $3600.

Also, come on over to TSOC too. TCCA is not as good as it used to be.

i like what im hearing here, and to elaborate i love dohc. i wasnt finding very much info on the duratec where i was finding tons on the sho. i havent found much info on the vulcan exept that it is dependable.
if i could get the vulcan to perform better i would stick with it till it go boom, but i havent been finding the best ways to mod it with the best response in performance.

thanks for your replies thus far

Bulk up the Vulcan.
That turbo sounds good, or maybe a SC if the crank and front mains can take it. I think the 3.8s in Mustangs have lots of Supercharger choices and I would look into them.
