I got my 93 ATX tonight. Anyhow the tranny is got a problem. No i haven't ran the codes yet but if you put it in drive it will just drive off fine in DRIVE but stays in first. IF you let of it really quick and then tap it, it to me seems like it finds second but then it jumps back to first. Some times i has a hard time finding first if you get up to 20 or so and then left off. But if you drop it down in to FIRST on the selector it will find it just fine.

I will run the codes tommarow and see what i get.

Thanks a head of time!!! :D

That was kind of hard to follow but if it's an ATX then the VSS controls your overdrive and cruise control functions. On an ATX a hard shift from 1st to 2nd can be an indication of a bad TSS sensor (around $25 at the dealer)On mine it would manifest itself after the motor got warmed up.If it is the TSS you will have a code, if not then it could be something more ugly...not $25.

Maybe the 1-2 servo piston needs a new clip ring? That would be my guess..

If its the VSS throw the car away, I tried to tackel one today.. and Im thinking by the end of the day already have 5hrs into it and gave up Im going to push it outside and just put it up for sale. Good 3.2

What you say bout the VSS sensor? Is replacing a very difficult thing? What does V.S.S. stand for? What des T.S.S. stand for?
