I have a 12 disc Pioneer changer, but i don`t know squat for audio. It is "voice activiatio ready",what does that mean? Also,is there a standard way to use the "CD Text"?I run it with a Poineer Super Tuner III head unit.I figure after having these things for years, maybe i can finally figure out how to use them. :) They are just a radio to me,but i want to understand the options better.

You have a instruction book ???

I had a JVC once that was controled to only my voice. there is a process that you have to go through and a external mic that has to be connected in order for the unit to hear you.

JT, pioneer made a "black box" that you could hook up to your head unit and it would pick up on your voice and after saying certain words it would change the track, or turn up the volume. It looked like one of those boxes that was used for hard wireing a hands free mobile phone and came with a small mic that you would put on the sunshade or head liner. I've never used it before, but I think it was a little too gimicky.
I love my older pioneer head unit (circa '98) and I still haven't found any newer ones that I'd like better. Just need to figure out if I can hook up an XM reciever without doing RF modulation.

The only thing I can think of is CD naming. Some head units can do this automatically, if it is a CD that has the information on it. I think with Pioneers, at least the older ones, which I think you have, you have to do this manually. Your head unit is the same model year as mine and I have to do it manually if I want it to display names. I don't think you can name tracks though, just CDs. If you want to see what "gadgets and black boxes" Pioneer offered, check out this page. http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/Pioneer/CDA/Common/Archived/0,1485,40~4010~4010500,00.html
You can also get the specs of your head unit here also. Hope that helps a little

On a very few CD`s,the disc name will come up automatically.Do you know how to manually enter the text names on my particular head unit?
Hmm... on the specs that pioneer lists for my head, they show disc naming as one of the features, but it's not listed for yours. Its possible that the changer is what controls this though. On my head unit, it is done through the detailed settings menu which you access by pressing and holding the F button, and then cycling till you see Title In appear. I'm not positive yours works the same way, but its worth a shot.

Thanks for making me dig out my manual, I forgot that my head unit had a DSP in it since I haven't used it in over a year. I've got new stuff to mess with tomorrow!
