Hey sho peeps :hail: I need some questions to be answered before I dive in for repair... when I brake from upper 45mph front end shake really violently. I installed new rotors, pads, calipers as well all hardware. Symptoms still exist, umm? so I looked over some more and noticed the strut rod on driver side have significant gap between subframe and strut rod. I suspected the popping noise in past came from that but will it cause play (in and out movement?) also I noticed one of my subframe bushing (RUBBER) is bluging out. so is my subframe system in need of repair? thanks Paul

Replace your Strut-Rod bushings.

For those who remember, the '70-'78 Mercury Capri used the sway-bar to locate the lower control arms. When the bar-to-arm bushings wore, the brakes would shake very badly.

Using this as a premise, every Taurus I've worked on that had shaking brakes had the problem fixed with these bushigns replaced (as well as rotors turned as necessary - They were usually done first anyway!)

Hey TankII, that what I tho' I will tackle that problem along with welding the metal bushing to the subframe that house the rod strut rubber bushing. I saw repair bulletin somewhere on the website stated where the popping noise came from. Many thanks , Dude! Paul :thumb:

Sway bar locates control arm?

I don't need to remember a Capri, the Ford Tempo I've got outside right now uses the anti-sway bar to locate the control arms too. Frickin' impossible to remove because of the geometry (and rusted up sway bar bushing bolts), I was only able to replace one half of the anti-sway bar/control arm end bushings myself. That's what 'caster and camber are non-adjustable' means...
