I´m thinking to install a VAPS rack in a SHO 1992.
Im my opnion if you:
- remove the wire from a 1992 Taurus LX EEC harness and install this wire on the SHO EEC harness
- conect the steerring vaps module, maybe will be fine.
- change the rack for a 1993-1995 model with vaps

Maybe yill be fine
Anyone have install a VAPS in 1992 SHO? Some help?
Thank you.

Can I ask, why do you want to? I would think it would almost be preferred to have non-vaps.

Ok. I know the problems with VAPS, but I use this car in Brazil in a normal condition and with VAPS is more confortable to drive. I had a 1995 LX and it was nice.
I changed the sway bars to a 1995 model 20,6/21mm because we have much rols on the streets too.

I'd be interested in this as well. Living in the smallest state in the Union results in cramped parking at times, and it'd be nice to have a little more power steering assist when I need it.

I've done no research into what it'd take to make it work, but have thought it'd be nice to have.

It's simple. You just need the VAPS module and the rack. You will have to tap into the VSS wire that goes from the sensor on the transaxle to the ECC and add a few other wires for the power, ground, and the connection to the rack. If you are going to go to the trouble to add all of that you would be much better off with a 3rd gen ZF rack though. It's a much better steering rack and the only other thing extra you would need to do is make a special high pressure hose.

I agree about the 3rd gen rack.

I like VAPS. I've never had an issue with it, even on track (never went slow enough to have it switch). I don't really understand the VAPS haters as it's pretty nice when maneuvering through parking lots and such.
