vaccum line and cyl. bal. test

ok, i had a small car fire a little while ago, haha, got away prety cleanbut had a vaccum leak, i have found but have no clue what it is. it is a line that comes outta the middle of the firewall towards the top. this is a 91 sho. also my cyl bal test came back with cyl 2 and 3. im not sure of the common causes here, ill run the test again to be sure but i know the plugs are 1/2 a yr old,

could that vaccum leak make my idle uneven alot?

Maybe, but probably not. Your vacuum leak can cause drivability issues, but only BIG leaks cause idle problems...When I disconnect those 1/4" vacuum lines, the idle speed changes but remains smooth.....not really a studder or rough idle.

What do you mean by uneven? Do you mean the idle is "bouncy"? That could easily be the MAF sensor.

Is that line taking vacuum, or do you suspect that it SHOULD but isn't?

yeah, the idle is bouncy and rough.
the line is just a rubber fitting coming out of the firewall now, and you can hear and feel air coming out of it when the car is running

If it is currently pulling vacuum, plug it. Try a golf tee. I doubt yours is a vacuum issue though.

i have a k & n cone filter that got really dirty this winter so there is a very good chance that my maf is dirty, ill do a search on how to clean it.

btw, what is that vaccum even for?
