What is the difference between the Livernois V8 and the V9 tunes...Do they up the boost, change timing, more fuel? What is the power and torque difference between the two....Thanks, Rich

There are several performance parameters that we address in a much more aggressive way in V9 from V8. Yes, we really do alter boost, timing and other performance parameters. There are several people that BETA tested the tune for us, and can provide you with impartial feedback. Why do you ask?

To answer your last email Rich, we recommend that due to the lack of quality fueling in the winter season run V8 3BAR TS. When we are fortunate enough to have good fuel again you can upgrade to the more powerful V9 :thumb:

I'm very happy with the V9 tune, although experiencing some fueling issues above 4k RPM at WOT with the crappy winter mix fuel. I'm doing to bump back down to the V8 tonight & run that one to spring.

Everything is turned up to 11. You do want to be aware that the car will require quality fuel, and winter blend fuel is infamously bad. I would use V9 under normal driving conditions, or stick to V8 until it warms up.

Sure hope this winter fuel goes away soon a maxima was trying to race me on the Thruway today and because of this fueling issue the RPM struggle to get to red line

The actual temps in our region of the world are also extremely close to single digits...that is going to make all of this happen almost regardless of fuel quality. You cannot race a TDI, or pretty much any other type of car in well below freezing temps. Physics, chemistry and thermodynamics all change in freezing temps...nothing will stop this from occurring. When compounded by having heavily deteriorated fuel qualities you experience these adverse conditions. There is no amount of tuning, mods or otherwise that will counteract the laws of physics, chemistry and thermodynamics.

Maybe we should go back to PFI? :)

Mike, were the engine and trans fully warmed up before this "event"? Do not even attempt otherwise. There is bad precedence.

Seems like the V9 is ok above 40*. The combination of the cold and bad fuel is the key it seems. Still testing these theories though...been a few since we were at 40*.

Event, :bowrofl:! Too funny!

I disagree, I think that the evolution of the domestic TDI platform is going to yield amazing results. There are just engineering limitations that we need to learn to adapt to. From Ferrari to VW the DI engine has been a platform of pure genius! From the Aventador to the Zondas, Acura to VW there are some amazing cars that feature this cutting edge engineering.

We are just to the party, as usual. We need some more time with the technology to make it better. I cannot disclose much, but there are going to be some really impressive developments coming in the coming years. There are several upcoming engines and cars that hint to that. Look at the new 2.7L EB, for example. It is smaller, lighter and a more efficient setup VS the 3.5L EB. Tuning the 2.7L yields better results, because it is a platform that was from day one a true TDI venture. How about the new Focus RS? It is a true derivative rally car. The new Fusion Sport is going to be a true competitor for the mid-sized family sport sedan. Well planned, thought out and executed ideas. Turbo specific performance built engines, actual AWD drive systems and gearing.

Ok. But what do we do in the meantime with the cars & engines we DO have? Can the TDI issues be resolved sooner rather than later? What mods would it take? Inquiring minds want 2 know!

Yeah the 2.7 and 2.3 were developed to be turbo motors from the start, not like the 3.5 EB. Yeah can't wait to see what the new Fusion Sport does when tuned.
